Srinagar, July 10 (KNS): Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has criticised the proposal reportedly sent by the then Omar Abdullah-led government to the Lieutenant Governor, seeking the declaration of July 13 and December 5 as public holidays.
In a post on social media platform X, Mehbooba said the move would have had more credibility if the Speaker had not rejected a similar resolution moved by the PDP in the Assembly.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
"The Speaker’s outright rejection of the resolution was unexpected and disappointing," she wrote, adding that today's move appears more like a formality than a genuine attempt.
July 13 marks Martyrs’ Day, while December 5 is the birth anniversary of National Conference founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. Both dates have long been considered significant in Jammu and Kashmir's political history. (KNS)
